Canceling an Interview
Written by the Inside The Match Team
Every year, there are lots of applicants on the waiting list for residency interviews. If you would like to cancel a virtual interview, it is most helpful and respectful to give two weeks notice. You might be canceling interviews when it conflicts with the date of another interview or you might be comfortable with the number of interviews and no longer want to add more to the list.
If you have a conflicting interview but want to interview at both programs, you can ask one of the residency programs if they have an alternate date open. If you want to cancel an interview, it is important to send the program coordinator an email. Below is a sample rescheduling and cancelation template. Add any information you think is appropriate for the program. The important part of this email is to be concise and considerate. Being professional can go a long way. Mention the interview details and your AAMC ID so they can easily find your interview date information and offer the spot to another applicant.
