Emergency Medicine Organizations to Join

If you are interested in emergency medicine, you might be asking yourself where you can go for guidance and advice on the field. There are lots of professional organizations that offer membership to medical students. Additionally, social media can be an incredibly powerful networking tool!
Here are some organizations to follow in the world of emergency medicine:
National Organizations:
Emergency Medicine Resident’s Association - @emresidents
EMRA offers membership for a small fee for medical students, and they offer lots of free resources on their website regarding advice for ERAS applications and the Match.
There are leadership opportunities available for medical students and access to a variety of committees related to various topics in emergency medicine.
Their membership also offers a variety of resources for students (this author loved their antibiotic reference book for clerkships throughout the 3rd and 4th year!)

Society for Academic Emergency Medicine - @SAEMonline
Divisions: @SAEM_ADIEM – academy for diversity and inclusion in emergency medicine, @CDEM_SAEM – clerkship directors in emergency Medicine
They offer medical student memberships for a small fee and they are dedicated to research and academics in the field of emergency medicine.
Conference for Research submissions? Yes! SAEM has an annual meeting in May of each year.
American Academy of Emergency Medicine - @aaeminfo
Students can become members for a small fee. The membership comes with guides to the field, tools for the ED, and educational content from AAEM.
Conference for Research submissions? Yes, they have an annual Scientific Assembly in April of each year where medical students can submit research.
Council of Residency Directors of Emergency medicine - @CORD_EM
CORD offers information about recommendations for the Match and ongoing issues for residency recruitment.

They host various panels and activities. If you are a medical student in New York, they have a very active social media presence.
